Joy Maith is a name to remember for the future, as the 21 year-old colourist from Ashley Paul Salon, Gloucester wowed the judges with her entry at the Western Regional Final of the L'Oréal Colour Trophy, securing her place at the eminent Live Final in London and taking her one step closer to hairdressing stardom.
Joy faced tough competition from her fellow entrants, but her innovative use of colour and styling pushed her ahead of her peers. Mentor and Salon owner Ashley Paul commented on Joy's outstanding determination and talent, saying that "Joy thrives on the pressure and excitement of competitions. She is always willing to put in the hard work and has a fantastic client base that appreciates her energy and enthusiasm.
Having leaped over the hurdle of the Regional Final, Joy will now prepare to go head-to-head with her fellow Live Finalists in the hope of being crowned L'Oréal Young Colourist of the Year 2007. With the support of her salon and clients, Joy is excited and confident about taking the next step in the competition.
"I couldn't believe it, she exclaimed when asked about her winning moment. "The whole salon was jumping around and cheering and the following day I had lots of clients ringing up to find out how I'd done. Competition work is so exciting and I can't wait to go on to the Live Final in May.
