Will Ackerley is only eighteen years old, but his photographic entry into the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy - Young Colourist Award 2008 has proved to a panel of industry-leading judges that he has more talent, vision and skill in the field of colour than his years may initially suggest.

"The look that I created was chic and wearable, inspired by simple classic cuts. I wanted the colour to look sun-kissed and shiny. It's a really beautiful, wearable look that my clients would love.”

Will now faces the Live Final where he will now go head-to-head with eight of his peers in a bid to win this coveted title. The next stage of the competition will require Will to demonstrate his technical expertise and discuss his creative inspiration with the judges. Judging by his reaction to the news that he had won the North East region, it seems that Will is one contender that has the confidence of a winner.

"I was so excited,” exclaimed a clearly delighted Will. "I ran up to the stage, grabbed the champagne and started to pose for the camera. It was absolutely amazing.”
