Biography

With an international following and first-class reputation, Charles Worthington is one of today's most influential and creative hairdressers, with over 20 years hairdressing experience. 

As Creative Director of Charles Worthington salons, Charles has won many international awards, including British Hairdresser Of The Year twice, Men's Hairdresser Of The Year and Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year.
He now has four buzzing London salons seeing over 2,500 clients a week and attracting celebrities such as Jamie and Jools Oliver, Mena Suvari, Joely Richardson, Goldie Hawn, Jodie Kidd and Erin O'Connor .
In 2006 he was listed in the Queen's Birthday Honours List to be awarded an MBE for Services to Hairdressing.

Charles is constantly on call for red carpet events, from the BAFTAS to Cannes, the Globes to the most important event on Hollywood calendar, the Oscars. Charles is also the resident hair expert on the UK morning TV show 'This Morning' giving advice to the nation and performing live make-overs. In addition, his Creative Team - the next generation of up-and-coming hairdressing talent - travel the globe for international fashion weeks, special events and session styling assignments.

Charles is also personally involved in developing and testing his ever-increasing portfolio of award-winning product ranges, from the formulation stage to the finished product on shelf.  There are currently nine Charles Worthington product ranges including Salon Shine Results, Takeaways, Q&A, Dream Hair, Results For Men, Charles Worthington Electricals, Tools of the Trade brushes and CW Style.Com.

What is the significance of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy to the hairdressing industry?
It is recognition for the best of the best in our industry.

What are your favourite L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy competition memories?
Seeing the sheer joy on the winners' faces after all their hard work and also being involved with the show for the 50th Anniversary.

What is your criterion for a L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy winner?
A team who work cohesively together to produce a new look (colour and cut) that inspires and excites everyone.

What does it mean to win the competition?
It creates an amazing new platform for media coverage and industry recognition.

If you were entering in this year's competition, what advice would you like to be given?
Always go with your instinct and produce a look that, win or not, you feel proud of.

What personal / character traits do you think make a L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy winner?
Passion, determination and a strong competitive spirit to win.

How do you think the standards of the competition have changed in recent years?
The standards have improved immensely with the use of much better models and a clearer understanding of the set criteria.

What are the benefits of competing and being a part of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy competition?
It is highly motivating, not only for the team involved, but for the salon and clients as a whole. It gives great focus for the year.
