Biography
Errol Douglas has won multiple awards in recognition of his work including the Pantene Pro V Award, Men of Merit Award and Cosmopolitan Style Award. He has been nominated ten times for British Hairdresser of the Year, has twice won Afro Hairdresser of the Year at the BHA's and has been crowned Honorary Ambassador for the Hairdressing Council in addition to Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year.
Last year Errol winnings included the AIPP Grand Trophy and the Fellowship's Gold Star Salon's Consumer Hairdresser of the Year. 2006 has seen Errol receive The Guild of Hairdressers Special Recognition Award, The AIPP Best Avant Garde Collection, NHF Celebrity Hairdresser of the Year and the Good Salon Guide Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Hairdressing Industry.
Errol's salon is renowned for its expertise in Afro and European hairstyling. His client list includes Iman, Christina Ricci, Emmy Rossum, Gillian Taylforth, Suzy Amy, Angelica Bell and Emilia Fox.
As well as participating in shows and seminars worldwide, Errol's photography is regularly seen amongst the fashion and beauty press and his session work is featured internationally. TV appearances include GMTV, This Morning, Model Behaviour, 10 years younger, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Ready Steady Cook, The Weakest Link and Extreme Makeover.

What is the significance of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy to the hairdressing industry?
The L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy is one of the major industry events of the year with cut, colour and finish being paramount.
What are your favourite L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy competition memories?
The 50th anniversary was a magnificent show. The sheer size, volume and creativity was mind blowing and epitomized the magnitude of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy.
What is your criterion for a L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy winner?
I'm looking for a style that has a contemporary feel achieved by the cut and, most importantly, the colour. It is also important that the hairdresser chooses the right model to best demonstrate the desired look.
What does it mean to win the competition?
To win the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy is an amazing achievement and will definitely open up doors and raise your profile within the industry. This award is highly recognised and will enhance your standing in the profession. It is a fantastic accolade to add to your profile.
If you were entering in this year's competition, what advice would you like to be given?
Preparation is key. Do your research and study trends. Devise a mood board and look into colours, techniques and products that L'Oréal have produced and see if you can follow on from their direction.
What personal / character traits do you think make a L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy winner?
Someone with fresh ideas who is willing to sell themselves. You have to be willing to be an ambassador for L'Oréal and represent the brand.
How do you think the standards of the competition have changed in recent years?
They have changed over the years as the competition has veered towards shape/cut as well as colour. Styles that are demonstrated are less classical and more contemporary and edgy. Standards have definitely been raised - the competition is extremely fierce.
What are the benefits of competing and being a part of the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy competition?
You have the opportunity to compete against some of the most talented hairdressers within the industry. The calibre of competitors is very high and this will contribute to your knowledge and experience.
