20 year old colourist Ciara Devlin revealed herself to be a rising star in the world of hairdressing, when her entry into the L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy - Young Colourist Award 2008 shone above all others from the Northern Irish region. Ciara will represent Freak Or Unique in Bangor, where she has worked since joining the industry as a Saturday girl at just 13.
Here Ciara explains the inspiration behind her striking image: "I noticed that a lot of haircuts were going shorter so I wanted to soften this fashionable look to make it more wearable for clients. The blend of warm and cool tones makes the overall finish really natural.
Ciara will now compete against eight other finalists from around the UK for the 2008 Young Colourist title, which offers an unparalleled prize package and invaluable PR opportunities over the coming year. Bruce Dunwoody and the team at the salon have every faith in Ciara's abilities and are looking forward to the final round of the competition with great anticipation.
"Ciara has been working at the salon since she was thirteen, explains salon owner Bruce Dunwoody. "She has always been determined and passionate about her job and it's wonderful to see her talent showing through in this way.
