Having already won a chance to compete at the Grand Final in the L'Oréal Colour Trophy category, Indigo Rye, Wallingford were beyond delighted to then be announced as the Men's Image finalist for the Midlands Region. Ashley White and Helen McFall-Read went smart with their entry, opting for sophisticated tailoring made causal with an open shirt and no tie to be seen. Hair styling was kept preppy in line with the clothes, while the chestnut colouring fully displayed the team's technical talent.
"Our inspiration came from the Dior Homme campaign for A/W '07," explained Ashley of the vision behind their qualifying look. "We wanted to present a clean, sleek style that had an old-fashioned feel to it. We brought the overall look up-to-date with a natural, one-tone colour that accentuates the fringe."
Ashley and Helen will now accompany their salon's L'Oréal Colour Trophy Team to the last round of the competition, where they have to recreate their look once more alongside eight other finalists. With two teams competing in the 2007 Grand Final, confidence levels at Indigo Rye are high and the excited anticipation in the salon is palpable.
"It was completely amazing," recalls Ashley of the moment her team's win was announced. "It's a completely unimaginable feeling. When I got home last night I was so overwhelmed I couldn't sleep. This journey has inspired us to enter every year and achieve as much as we possibly can."
