Shelley Tempest and Marcello Moccia have collectively produced an inspirational entry for the L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2007, impressing a panel of industry-leading judges and winning them an opportunity to compete for the illustrious title at the Grand Final in May. The creative duo represent Room 97 Hairdressing in Wakefield and scoured the streets and the catwalks in their quest for the perfect entry.
"We were drawn to the 80's trends on the A/W catwalks this year, especially the block bright colours," explained Marcello of his team's winning look. "For the clothing we used heavy golds reminiscent of the 80's era, then brought the classic hair shape up to date with a contemporary finish. Our model Fiona was key to the entry. I spotted her on the street and knew she matched our vision perfectly."
Room 97 Hairdressing have entered the L'Oréal Colour Trophy several times before, and competed in the regional finals no less than five times. Yet 2007 marks the salon's debut at the Grand Final, and they could not be more delighted about it. Shelley and Marcello will now battle it out against twenty-seven other finalists in the hope of winning the L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2007.
"The hairs stood up on the back of our necks," said Marcello of the salon's winning moment. "There was a second of disbelief followed by complete euphoria. It was incredible."
