What is L’Oréal looking for?
L’Oréal Professionnel does not judge this competition, it is judged by leading members of the industry. You need to read each brief carefully in the entry dossier or on the website as to what is being asked for each competition. A good piece of advice is to forget how your look might look on stage at a hair show or within the pages of a hair magazine and imagine it strutting down a catwalk or hitting the fashion pages of a consumer glossy magazine. We want forward thinking catwalk looks, styles you’d find on the fashion pages of magazines and a hair colour with attitude.
When will I hear if I have got through to the Regional Finals?
The dossier judging will take place on 8th March 2010. You will have your letter saying whether you have or have not got through by Friday 12th March 2010. You can also come onto the Website where the results will be posted by 5pm on Wednesday 10th March 2010.
Can I send in a black and white photograph?
There is nothing in the rules to say that you cannot send in a black and white photo. However this is the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy and the competition is about total look which encompasses both cut and most importantly colour so you should keep this in mind.
Do I need a professional model?
It is not necessary. You just need a photogenic model who you believe can best represent your look. Often you can be more creative on a models hair when she is not professional. Remember also that your model should you get through to the Regional Finals needs to be confident enough to take walk down the catwalk in front of a large audience and carry off your look
Should the photo be a head and shoulder shot or can it be full length?
It is up to you. We are looking at the overall image but remember it is ultimately a hair competition so the hair needs to be an important part of the photo.
Should the 2 photos be different to show the hair in different angles?
The 2 photos that you send in must be identical.
Can I send in a different size of photograph?
Any photos which are not 10x8 cannot be entered into the competition
Can I get my pictures back?
Unfortunately we are unable to return any pictures whether or not you are successful in getting through to the Regional Finals.
How many people get through to each Regional Final?
35 teams in the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy and 25 teams L’Oréal Men’s Image Award and 4 in the Young Colourists Award
