5 Finalists per region will be chosen from the Photographic Entry stage. These finalists will compete at the Backstage Live Final in their region which will take place in a key city during the month of April.
Each Star Finalist will need to bring a model with them with the colour already pre-done on the hair. Each Star Finalist will be interviewed by the judges who will inspect the colour work on the live model and interview them about their aspirations as colourists.
The Star finalist will then compete in the live 30-minute competition to finish the style on the model’s hair. They may bring a stylist from the salon with them to do the styling if they wish although this is not mandatory. Yes, as long as it’s not the same category (i.e. you can’t have two teams in your salon entering the same category). If the salon wants to enter a team into the L’Oréal Men’s Image Award and another team into the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award, the teams must be made up of different people because if both teams get through to the Backstage Live Finals, the competitions will be run simultaneously on the same day.
No, this is not necessary. You just need a photogenic model who you believe can best represent your look according to the 2017 brief. Often you can be more creative on a model’s hair when she/he is not professional. Please remember that if your salon makes it through to the Backstage Live Finals, your model should be confident, ‘own’ the look you have created on them and walk convincingly down the catwalk in front of the assembled audience.
This is up to you. We can accept a head or full length shot, but remember, this is a hair competition so the hair needs to be an important factor in the photograph that you submit.
Applicants will need to enter with a photograph of their model following the category brief. This is submitted by building online profile & completing the entry form. For the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Star Award, entrants will additionally need to submit a ‘before’ photo of their model prior to any colour work performed on the model’s hair.
All online photos submitted must be in a tiff or jpeg format with minimum size of 3MB and a maximum size of 7MB. Photos submitted via postal entry must be in colour and be 10”x8” in size.
No, it can be a different model. However, should you get through to the Grand Final you must use the same model as you used at the Backstage Live Final.
Each L’Oréal Colour Trophy Star Award winner from each region will become part of the L’Oréal Professionnel Colour Academy 2017/2018. These 9 winners will compete at the Grand Final on Monday 5TH June and will have to recreate their winning look on the same model from the Backstage Live Final in order for the judges to choose the overall “Judge’s Favourite”. The “Judge’s Favourite” will get the chance to join the other category winners on the European winners shoot in July 2017.
